This research Area was ratified and commenced in 2012.


The Architecture + Biology research area focuses [i] integrating the built and the natural environment with particular focus on multi-species integration in architecture, [ii] biology-inspired design solutions and methods for architecture and the built environment, and [iii] the development of analytical design methods and tools that facilitate architects to incorporate ecological and climatic considerations and data into the design process.
